Social Media Day Gold Coast

Social Media Day Gold Coast 2014

Social Media Day Gold Coast 2014.

We are thrilled to celebrate Mashable’s fifth annual Social Media Day aka #SMDay, ! Mashable launched this event in 2010 as a way to recognize the digital revolution happening around the world.

For the first time, we are going to hold the Social Media Day on the Gold Coast and who would be a better host than the Media Bootcamp 😉 hahaha

Of course, we are not putting this on alone. We are working side on side with Des Walsh aka. the Mr. LinkedIn the Almighty himself and Silicon Lakes, Gold Coast’s first and only Start-Up Incubator. The Social Media Day will be happening at the new digital hub on the Goldy – a brand new Co-Working Space called WOTSO WorkSpace.

What exactly is the Social Media Day Gold Coast?

#SMDay is the effort to really acknowledge our dependence on, love for, and absorption in social media. Cities world over have officially declared June 30th as Social Media Day.

Our lives revolve around social media. Its connectivity allows people to communicate with people in all corners of the globe, glimpse into the lives of celebrities, and explore possibilities previously unthinkable (i.e. blogger for a social media marketing company — a job that didn’t exist a decade ago).

What’s Happening on the Day?

Our topic for this year’s inaugural Social Media Day Gold Coast event is ‘Putting the Social Back into Social Media’.

We will be putting the social back into social media through hosting a panel discussion with speakers from businesses of all shapes and sizes. We round up the evening with an interactive social media scavenger hunt  through the digital hub.
